Multi-wavelength SPAD photoplethysmography for cardio-respiratory monitoring

چکیده
There is a growing interest in photoplethysmography (PPG) for the continuous monitoring of cardio-respiratory signals by portable instrumentation aimed at early diagnosis cardiovascular diseases. In this context, it conceivable that PPG sensors working different wavelengths simultaneously can optimize identification apneas and quantification associated heart-rate changes or other parameters depend on shape (e.g., systematic vascular resistance pressure), when evaluating severity breathing disorders during sleep general health monitoring. Therefore, objective work to present novel pulse oximeter provides synchronous data logging related three light (green, red, infrared) transmission mode both heart rate measurements reliable assessment oxygen saturation. The considered more robust over motion artifacts than reflection mode, but current oximeters cannot employ green due high absorbance body tissues wavelength. For reason, our device based Single-Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) with very short deadtime (less 1 ns) have, same time, single photon sensitivity high-count allows acquiring all site mode. Previous studies have shown SPAD cameras be used measuring through remote PPG, saturation measures contact SPAD-based never been addressed so far. results preliminary validation six healthy volunteers reflect expected physiological phenomena, providing rms errors Inter Beat Interval estimation smaller 70 ms (with light) maximum error 1% apneas. Our prototype demonstrates reliability devices long-term variables as an alternative photodiodes especially minimal area optical power are required.

Developmental Mismatch – consequences for later cardio-respiratory health Running title: Developmental mismatch & cardio-respiratory health
Clinical and epidemiological studies have established that people who were small at birth and had poor infant growth have an increased risk of adult cardiovascular and respiratory disease, particularly if their restricted early growth is followed by accelerated childhood weight gain. This relationship extends across the normal range of infant size in a graded manner. The ‘mismatch hypothesis’, ...
متن کاملGreen light photoplethysmography monitoring of free flaps.
BACKGROUND Monitoring strategies have been developed to address the issue of detecting postoperative free flap ischemia in an effort to permit intervention and flap salvage. No one existing noninvasive method has been widely accepted in a clinical setting. Green light photoplethysmography (GLP) uses a diode to transmit green light into a tissue. Reflected light from hemoglobin in dermal capilla...
متن کاملPulmonary emphysema, cardio-respiratory disturbance.
Pulmonary emphysema, as the term is generally used clinically, refers to an overinfiation or distention of the lungs (localized or diffuse), characterized by a relative increase in the amount of air which cannot be blown out with a forced expiration. The residual air capacity plus the vital capacity equals total observed lung capacity (TLC) for the individual, and in pulmonary emphysema the TLC...
متن کاملIncreasing the Accuracy of Blood Hematocrit Measurement by Triplicate Wavelength Photoplethysmography Method
Background and objectives: The importance of continuous monitoring and rapid and accurate informing of changes in blood components (e.g., percentage of hematocrit [HCT]), especially in acute conditions, has motivated researchers to use non-invasive measurement methods. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the association between blood HCT and photoplethysmographic signal and the possibility ...

We describe a multiwavelength program of monitoring of a sample of bright γ-ray blazars, which the Boston University (BU) group has being carrying out since June 2007. The program includes monthly monitoring with the Very Long Baseline Array at 43 GHz, optical photometric and polarimetric observations, construction and analysis of UV and X-ray light curves obtained with the Rossi X-ray Timing E...
